We've already Steelers-jacked this thread? Awesome.

Can Santonio Holmes deep snap? Or play OL?

Since my 320+ EV is in the bag, time for a nother big prediction.

    A huge IF, I realize.

But IF the Dolphins somehow get past the Broncos, they make the playoffs.

Lewis is just going to keep the seat warm until season's end, then buh-bye.

Steelers may manage to win the division, but they'll go nowhere fast in the playoffs unless that offensive line plays much, much better. I don't care who your receivers are; if the QB is getting hit basically 1 of every 2 dropbacks, you ain't goin' nowhere.

Jared Retkofsky gets that first job. All I know about him is that he was in camp with the Steelers this year and he wasn't good enough to have a job in the NFL.

We should be asking if Santonio Holmes can play safety. Ryan Clark is out at least for this week, probably longer with a separated shoulder. Losing him was a big part of the defensive collapse a year ago.

Captain_Kirk, I agree with you to a point, but think of it this way. The Steelers led mid-way through the fourth quarter and lost on a late touchdown to the Giants, who are among the top two or three teams in the league if not No. 1. This was without their Pro Bowl running back, left tackle, No. 2 wide receiver and their top cornerback, all of whom should be back before the end of the season. They also lost their starting free safety and their long snapper in the game. The long snapper not only cost them a safety, it forced them to pass on a 51-yard field goal attempt with one of the best kickers in the league.

Are the Giants the better team? Absolutely. So are the Titans and probably a few others. But the separation from the top to the bottom isn't very wide and the Steelers are one of the teams that can hang with the big boys on a good day.

Broncos are pathetic on D. Pennington should have at least 300 yards, and Ronnie Brown could add 150.

Meanwhile, amidst all this horrible Steelers talk :D

There is a game in New York this weekend which is getting a bit of attention, but more for injuries than anything. If Dallas loses, it was the injuries. I hope they don't go this route because that'll just fire up the Giants.

If anything, if Dallas loses that game they should move on and say the better team won. No excuses whatsoever.

But, if they somehow manage to win on Sunday then the NFC East just got 1,000 percent more interesting.

Who is in the playoffs ahead of Miami?

You can give divisions to the Titans, Steelers, Bills and Broncs. This is just a hypothetical.

So who does this leave in the mix for the two wild cards?
    Ravens
    Pats
    Jets

Then there is a handful of 3-4 teams who if they lose this week or in their next game and drop to 3-5 are basically out without an act of God.
    Colts
    Jags
    Browns
    Miami

If any of the wild card teams go on a three-game win streak, they will take a huge stride to earning a playoff spot.

    Lord, the AFC stinks.

The ghost of Matt Millen haunts Ford Field; the Detroit Lions, who had the rare good sense to plant their incumbent washed-up has-been QB, Jon Kitna, on the bench for good three weeks ago, are by numerous reports, close to signing Daunte Culpepper.

If the Browns beat the Ravens at home this week, which they should. Then the Wild Card will be much more interesting. The Jets have beaten Miami, KC, Cinci and and Arizona and could easily lose four of their next five.

The Browns should beat Baltimore? The Ravens aren't that bad and still have a solid defense ...

How is this good for either party. He's old. He has no future. The Lions suck they have no future, or present for that matter. This may be the worst FA signing in the history of the NFL.

Which is why it might just work; 6-10 here we come.

    Utter complete idiocy.

The entire point of sending Kitna out to pasture was to allow the younger guys, Orlovsky and Stanton to play. As it turns out Orlovsky has played much better than Kitna had (no turnovers in three games), but still poorly. Stanton has not set foot on the field and apparently Meathead Marinelli, confirming himself as a total failure as an NFL coach, has no plans to let him do so.

Signing a highly-injury-prone 33-year-old QB who has been cut, in succession, by two of the worst teams in the league (other than the Lions themselves of course) is the sheer definition of utter idiocy.

Anybody even contemplating it for a millisecond should be immediately shot, the body hung from a tree and set on fire, the smoking corpse dumped in the Detroit River. Oh yeah, fired too.
