The most impressive thing about Cutler last night is that he managed for an entire half to not make a single mistake despite the rib injury. I would have bet my meager life savings that in a game a lot closer than it should have been he would have, at some point, tried to make a throw he couldn't have made.

Cutler is improving but last night wasn't a good game to point to. He didn't win that game, his defense did.

Second half possessions:

field goal after defense gets a fumble
punt
punt
punt
punt
end game

Detroit turned the ball over three times in the redzone. Bears defense came up big or Detroit once again killed themselves. Either way Cutler had very little to do with it.

But he had nothing to do with them losing, and that's the point.

If the Bears had lost everyone would be saying it was because of Cutler. Here's how it would have gone ...

He couldn't move the ball in the second half and all those punts meant the defense was on the field too much. He barely completed half his passes and didn't account for a combined total of 200 yards. He was playing a bad defense and should have been able to complete passes.

Why would you think the Bears would have called the same plays and Cutler would have thrown the same passes (or not) if they were losing?
