    Tony Corrente was the white hat. He's been around for a long time.
    I know that no one's perfect, yada yada yada.......but you gotta get that one....hell, even Triplette got the Sanchez one right!

    Not in college they aren't, anyway.

    Way back in 1998 Arkansas was leading Tennessee 24-2o late when the snap went over the Arky punter's head and toward the end zone. Punter booted it out of the end zone. Referee called it a UT safety, allowing Arky to keep a 24-22 lead. Which would have been enough to win that game had Stoerner not had his calamitous fumble on Arky's next series.

    HOWEVER, the SEC office ruled the next day that the punter should have been penalized for illegally batting the ball, and Tennessee should have been awarded the ball first-and-goal at the 5-yard line.

    Officials have been screwing that call up for decades, I guess.

    On that play, was the punter at the 5-yard line when he booted it? That must be the difference. If they're already in the end zone and they do the kick, it's a penalty in the end zone and a safety. If it's before the end zone, then it's the spot of the foul.

    He was at the 10. Thus, it should have been half the distance from there.
