NFL Week 4 Thread: Bring Back Bubby!!!

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Evil ... Thy name is Orville Redenbacher!!, Sep 25, 2019.

  1. Seriously?!? I have to do this thread every week?
Ok .... I will Steeler-theme it each and every week.
Obviously the game of the week is the Monday Nighter with the Steelers, now having the NFL right where they want them, set to begin to their march to the AFC Championship game with a win over Cincy.

The other key game of the week is the hyped-up Browns playing the surprising Ravens.
Also, the undefeated Bills host the Pats.
The Chiefs continue to be undefeated with a game against the surprising Lions.
Dallas-NO on SNF should be a good one.
Skins-G-Men should be good for BDSM crowd.
Melvin Gordon is reportedly ending his holdout, while Jalen Ramsey appears to getting started.

And, OBTW, AB's agent said he is talking to some interested NFL teams ...

The spacing is weird on the odds, so I read that Patriots-Bills line as -742.5 at first, not -7 with the over/under at 42.5.
Weirdly, I'd still consider laying the points at -742.5

FWIW, I was briefly a teammate of Brister's at Tulane.

I thought Gordon was reporting to the team, but wouldn't be ready to play this week.

ESPN must be loving two winless teams on Monday night.

You should have saved Bubby for Week 6. :)

So do the "malcontented player" storylines get built up because they are important or because teams have become very adept at controlling the message at their end. Writers seem to be spending 90 percent of their time end up following player Twitter feeds for stories or checking injury reports (which are 70 pct bogus). Or are these the stories that get the most clicks because of fantasy football?

It is probably a bit of both, but that is where the Antonio Brown started, so people may be paying more attention now.

Bills/Pats is what I’m looking forward to.

When Brady finally slows down, it’s Buffalo time!

This feels like the point every year where the Patriots lose to a team they really ought to beat — and Vegas suckers us all in with a favorable line to boot — and the ensuing week is filled with the "Are the Patriots done!?" stories that are forgotten by the time they're 7-1 heading into Week 9 and the rest of the AFC East has revealed itself to be its usual stinky self.
Strangely, the Patriots have a history of this going all the way back to their first Super Bowl season. They've only had three seasons since 2001 where they haven't taken a loss between Weeks 2 and 5.
Since they're not losing to the Redskins, Giants or Jets the next three weeks, gamblers beware.

2018 - Lost in Weeks 2 and 3 to the Jags and Lions (Pats favored by 2 and 7, respectively)
2017 - Lost in Week 4 to Carolina (Pats -9)
2016 - Lost in Week 4 to the Bills (Pats -3.5)
    2015 - Started 10-0
2014 - Lost in Week 4 to the Chiefs (Pats -3)
2013 - Lost in Week 5 to the Bengals (Pats -1)
2012 - Lost in Weeks 2 and 3 to the Cardinals and Ravens (Pats -13.5 and +3)
2011 - Lost in Week 3 to the Bills (Pats -7.5)
2010 - Lost in Week 2 to the Jets (Pats -3)
2009 - Lost in Week 2 to the Jets (Pats -3.5)
2008 - Lost in Week 3 to the Dolphins (Pats -12.5)
    2007 - Went 16-0
2006 - Lost in Week 3 to the Broncos (Pats -6.5)
2005 - Lost in Weeks 2 and 4 to the Panthers and Chargers (Pats -3 and -5.5)
    2004 - Started 7-0
2003 - Lost in Week 4 to the Redskins (Pats, somehow, were +3.5)
2002 - Lost in Weeks 4, 5 and 6 to the Chargers, Dolphins and Packers
2001 - Lost in Week 4 to the Dolphins as part of a 1-3 start
