If my memory serves correctly, the shotgun started with Staubach and the Cowboys in about the middle '70s.

Actually, it started with the 49ers in the early '60s when they had both John Brodie and Billy Kilmer at quarterback. I believe Red Hickey was the coach who initiated it.

Pretty much, unless you want to count the single-wing, double-wing and Notre Dame box formations as early precursors.

I also have Lee Grosscup's book on his year that he spent mostly with the New York Titans. At one point, he hurts his knee, so the coaches considered using the shotgun for the whole game so he wouldn't have to drop back.

So Chandler Jones and Gronk......let the rumors fly about Belichik's shiner

*Edit, new tweet link after D&C deleted the original that referenced Gronk

Perhaps, but the Broncos-Pats games have been really good the last few years. But the AFC title game is going to get huge ratings, regardless. The build-up to a final Brady-Manning game would be make the network and the league do back flips.

DVR set. Did this really take forever, or held for Super Bowl 50 hoopla? Either way, I'm in. Sounds like a fun watch.

Maybe Jones' brother lent him his old stash.

Nice to know Adam Jones is ready to show some maturity, take responsibility for his actions and stop whining. He now claims that if Antonio Brown misses Sunday's game in Denver, he will admit he was wrong in accusing Brown of flopping.

It is looking more and more as if Jones will have to make that admission. Brown did not practice Wednesday and one report has him still feeling concussions symptoms.

This was how we were taught to tackle in the 70's; basic hit with your shoulder pads at the waist and wrap up. Jack Tatum notwithstanding, we were not taught to go around "spearing" guys with your head/helmet. Really wonder why/when the spearing started.
