The bar I was at tonight had ESPN News on and they flashed a graphic multiple times saying the Chiefs signed LB Karlos Dansby (free agent), placed the franchise tag on him and were opening negotiations for a long-term contract. I got a little giddy, especially after my buddies saw it, too (proving I wasn't simply halucinating) and started looking for info on it, but no one had anything.
    Was ESPN News that off?

EDIT: I've discovered I was led on worse than when I went to my prom. I've changed the thread title. We should have a lot of real news coming out in the next few days.

We probably should get an NFL offseason thread going, seeing as the franchise tags are coming out and free agency begins in ten days.

Offhand, I know the Pats have franchised Cassell, and the Giants have franchised Jacobs. Besides Dansby, any others?

    Changed to reflect real news.
Is Shayne Graham getting franchised sort like winning the Kicker Lottery?

Along with being proof of just how ridiculously cheap the Bengals are.

Who is this Cassell of which you speak? Not familiar with him. I know of Matt Cassel, though.

Two kickers have been tagged. There were rumors a punter might get tagged too.

Hell, Denver has already cut four starters from last year's D.

And that's not enough. They should get rid of almost everybody save guys like Bailey, DJ Williams, and Dumervil.

    Ah, salary cap casualties.
Sign a six-year contract, get cut after two.
    What a joke.
