That press release in the initial post mentions NFL shopping the Thursday night package. That's odd since the package is currently on the NFL's own network right?

They're shopping a new package for the first half of the season.

They "shopped" it last time to and then sold it to ... the independently operating NFL Network! That was one of the big linchpins in their fight with Comcast because Comcast really wanted that package for Versus. So Comcast beat the piss out of them for a couple of years and made them come crawling just to get NFL Net on the air.

So the first-half package could be a sop to Comcast, or they could just "sell" it to themselves again.

So for all the people who took up DirecTV's offer of free Sunday Ticket this year, what will they pay next year? Are the rates going way up from what it was last year? Gotta think that was a brilliant move on the company's part to get fans hooked on that sweet TV crack.

I think it's about $300. And it automatically renews the next year unless you call and say you don't want it. At which point they drop the price by 40-50 percent. Same song and dance the next year.

So wait, for $10 a month I could have watched every Browns game? Son of a bitch.

Shouldn't they be paying you $10 a month to watch every Browns game?

I think the rules are different for customers outside the U.S.

And we have a new deal. Status quo through 2022 except for one nice thing: The third Thanksgiving game goes from NFL Network to NBC.

Did NBC get a Tebow Flex Guarantee written in?

Seriously that NBC Thanksgiving thing is a big deal.

Now if the NFL can reach a deal with Cablevision to air NFL Network then we will really have something.

    Huge.

Also, starting in 2014, flex scheduling will start earlier in the season, including moving games between Fox and CBS, which pissed off CBS earlier this year when it lost Tebows at Vikings.

    Super Bowl rotation:

    NBC: 46, 2012; 49, 2015; 52, 2018; 55, 2021
    CBS: 47, 2013; 50, 2016; 53, 2019; 56, 2022
    Fox: 48, 2014; 51, 2017; 54, 2020; 57, 2023.

ESPN previously expanded through 2021. Next up will be the first half of the season on Thursday nights.
