Seafood places are half the reason (the other half is Fenway) we want to go this way. Taking suggestions on seafood dining options.

Here's where we're at now (btw, we're planning on late July, early August ... 28th-2nd are our tentative thoughts):

Chicago to Providence on Southwest ($150 round trip per person).
We'll stay in Rhode Island for most of the stay, taking two days in Boston, spending one night in the city.

*The Northend is a must for the Italian, and Hanover Street (inc. Bova's) sounds like a good stop.
*As I mentioned earlier, great seafood is a must. I imagine I can find that in Rhode Island too though.
*Quincy Market/Fanueil Hall ... The Future might appreciate the shopping. Am I missing something about this place?
*Other suggestions look great, we'll just have to see what we can get into our days there.

I forgot Pizzeria Regina! Just don't go on a weekend night, you'll have a forever-esque wait. Better as a lunch stop, where the wait usually is nil.

Legal Seafoods, the regional chain, is all over and has a location in Warwick near the T.F. Green/Providence airport. Newport has some really neat places, but it likely would be crowded that time of year. Still, it's worth the trip, and the homes alone make it worth it.

Fanueil Hall itself has a visitors center and is a neat historic place. Quincy Market and the surrounding buildings host all the shops. Also very close to the North End.

Good luck!

If you go to Newport, go to Ocean Coffee Roasters, which I think has been re-named Jonathan's or something, and say Hi to my brother. He bought the place last year (and was going to rename it after my nephew, but not sure if he did).

Also, go to a PawSox game. McCoy Stadium is a great place.

And if you go to the game, go to the Pawtucket House of Pizza on Division St. (about 4 blocks away) and treat yourself to the greatest sandwich in the world.

The roast beef grinder is out of this world!

I will gladly second Bova's in the North End. Also, the Fours (across the street from TDBanknorth Center) is a must for any sports fan.

If there's time, throw in a day trip to Cape Cod's Chatham Beach.

Newest update:

As I mentioned earlier, flying from Chicago to Providence.

We're now thinking about spending the first couple days relaxing in the Cape Cod area or Newport area. Then go to Boston for a couple days and spend the last day in Plymouth.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Plymouth Rock - most overrated landmark in the US.
