    Utley will be a fascinating case. He has five years of outstanding production And his other five season, none are more than 115 games. If he can play three more years and play full seasons, he's in just to add to his couting stats. Being a second baseman helps.

    Mauer's in. A catcher hitting a career .323/.405/.468 and has more walks than strikeouts, three batting titles, an MVP and three gold gloves? What more do you want from the position? Even if he has to move to first, as long as he doesn't start hitting .260 for the rest of the career, he's going to get in.

    Konerko has to get to 500 homers to have even an outside shot. He's going to be viewed as a compiler and his only standout numbers will probably be homers and RBI when he retires, so for his era he's going to be down the list of first-base candidates.
