Chris Carpenter to miss 2013 season, perhaps retire:

I know he was part of two World Series teams and was a Cy Young winner once, but I can't see Chris Carpenter in the Hall of Fame because of his many injuries. The guy missed way too much time.

Moddy just checked to make sure this wasn't a Josh Hamilton thread.

    He has no chance.

    None.

Agreed. It's silly to even suggest Carpenter. He had two elite seasons, three good ones and the rest was either getting lit up or hurt.

Next stop Cooperstown? If he's driving to Utica and has to go to the bathroom.

I think this thread is flying over a few of your heads. Well played Dick.

It's kind of sad that the only good baseball HOF debates these days are whether guys who used or were presumed to use PEDs should make it.

If not for the going on the fifth year of injury to derail a season, yes.

Well he played for Tony LaRussa so you can assume Carpenter used PEDs.

Not sure if that helps or hurts his candidacy...

Maybe I gave Dick too much credit in assuming he wouldn't pound that stupid joke into the ground any more. Didn't Moddy actually posted something a while back telling everybody to cut it out with the gag Hall of Fame threads because it was getting out of hand?

If you are right, I'll just have to remember to lower my expectations of Mr. Whitman.
