Newspaper journalists paid less than ... janitors?

I've considered looking into janitorial positions for larger clean-up firms, for extra income.

Empty trash cans, sweep or mop, clean some bathrooms, after-hours work with no one else around. Could be worse.

With the glut of out of work journalists, being a janitor may be a step up.

    Clearly the income suggests so.

i made $165/week in my first gig.
26 years later, if you judged my pay on an hourly scale, it'd be about the same.

My wife works at the YMCA. She told me the other day that the night cleaning lady makes $10/hr. While I make more than that, it was close enough that my first thought was "glad that college degree is paying off."

He's not a school bus driver - the county has mass transit, so no summers/school vacations off. And that $60K may include overtime, but still. The guy barely made it through high school.

what the hell? Number 11 on WSJ's list is "philosopher" with a starting salary of 33,000. Does Camus get a yearly cost of living increase?
