  1. Newsday is looking for an Assistant Sports Editor to coordinate print and Web content.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a manager or assigning editor at a daily newspaper as well as having a strong background in online journalism. We are looking for an energetic, organized and effective communicator who has the ability to use our print resources to make an award-winning Web site better.

The candidate should possess solid news judgment and editing skills, experience in a competitive market and the ability to coach reporters on news coverage and direct them toward timely trend and enterprise stories for both print and online.

Please send your resume, recent work samples and a cover letter to sports editor Hank Winnicki at hank.winnicki@newsday.com.
