The Laredo Morning Times is looking for a reporter to join its staff in both news and sports. LMT is a daily newspaper owned by Hearst Corporation serving the Laredo, Texas area which has a population of more than 250,000. The position will feature an individual splitting their time filing general assignment content for main news as well as covering local sports in the area. Laredo features high school athletics as well as college programs out of NCAA Division II and NJCAA Division I. It is also home to professional teams in the Mexican Baseball League and National Premier Soccer League.

At least one year of experience is preferred but recent graduates with experience through internships or their student newspapers are encouraged to apply. The right candidate must be organized, have a thorough knowledge of news and sports, and be able to write compelling stories in AP style. Breaking news, meeting tight deadlines and social media are a must.

Laredo is a warm environment which features palm trees and winter months with highs of 70 degrees. If this position interests you, email a cover letter, resume and samples of your published stories to LMT Sports Editor Jason Mack at jmack@lmtonline.com. Send samples including breaking news, deadline game recaps, features and any column work. No phone calls please. LMT is an equal opportunity employer. Job offers are contingent on passing a drug test.
