News/sports copy editor/designer -- El Paso (Texas) Times

    Create, design, write, proof and update pages in addition to posting news, sports, entertainment and other content to elpasotimes.com and other publications that are part of the Texas/New Mexico Newspaper Partnership on a daily basis. Evaluate new opportunities for changing content and decide order of placement for stories, art and graphics. Use resources from various newsroom departments and wire services to ensure complete coverage. React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.


    Job Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in related field along with three years of editorial, copy editing and/or online experience with preference in the newspaper industry.
    Excellent customer service, grammar, written and verbal communications.
    Proficient in PC and Mac use along with InDesign and Microsoft Office Suite.
    Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights regularly as well as weekends and holidays as required.
