JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - News and sports openings in NW Montana

Hagadone Montana Publishing has several immediate openings for reporters in Northwest Montana. We publish the Daily Inter Lake in Kalispell, plus five weeklies and several other publications in five counties in Northwest Montana.

At the 14,000-circulation Daily Inter Lake in Kalispell, we are looking for a sports reporter to join our three person team.
The ideal candidate will have several years page design experience as well as sports reporting, but we will also consider entry level applicants with the right attitude and resume. Shift is from 4 p.m. to midnight Tuesday through Saturday.

General assignment reporters are also encouraged to apply for current and future openings.
We also have current openings at the Western News in Libby, Montana, and the Pultizer Prize-winning Hungry Horse News in Columbia Falls.
The Western News, which publishes twice a week, is hiring either an editor or a senior reporter who can do it all. The Hungry Horse News is hiring a general assignment reporter. Other papers in our group include the Whitefish Pilot, the Clark Fork Valley Press in Plains and the Mineral Independent in Superior.

Kalispell is located next to Glacier National Park and Flathead Lake and also have two ski resorts and many other recreational opportunities in the area. Because we are a vacation destination, we also have many amenities and amusements not typical of small towns. The arts and entertainment scene is thriving.

In all our hiring, we look for proven ability to find stories; report them accurately; and turn out clean, informative and engaging copy. Almost every job we have available these days requires multi-talented, multi-tasking journalists who are team players We would love to see applicants who have proven talent as reporters, photographers and page designers and with a strong interest in social media. If you are enthusiastic about working hard five days a week, so that you can enjoy a heckuva weekend in beautiful Northwest Montana, then send us your resume, clips and other work samples.

If you want to join us, e-mail your cover letter, resume and work samples to Daily Inter Lake Managing Editor Frank Miele at edit@dailyinterlake.com. (Our preference is to receive applications by email, but you can also forward your resume to our address listed below.) Sorry, but we can only contact the top few applicants to discuss the jobs in detail. The best applicants will be hired after a phone interview. Finalists will need to have a clean driving record and must pass a post offer, pre-employment drug screen.

The daily sports reporting position is still open in Kalispell. A great place to work with the ability to write on a broad range of topics.
