On the long runs, I like to put something with a nice calm rhythm in the middle hour/2 hours to keep me at a nice pace (believe it or not, Chopin works great), then put the stuff with a good beat at the 2 ends. I don't need crazy loud or heavy, just something that keeps me in a great cadence and breathing pattern:

    Yaz - The Situation
Foo Fighters -- Times Like These, Everlong (that's my favorite)
    AC/DC -- Thunderstruck
    U2 -- The Fly, Ultraviolet
A3 -- Woke Up This Morning (the sopranos theme)
    Remy Zero - Save Me

I listen to quite the variety when snowboarding everyday. This is what's basically on my shred playlist:
The Sounds - Living in America
Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart
    Beastie Boys - Sabotage
    Beastie Boys - Intergalatic
    Bouncing Souls - True Believers
Shiny Toy Guns - Don't Cry Out

    and more.

If you're looking for a group you probably haven't heard of, check out Nightwish. It's a rock group from the other side of the world and their music makes for great workout tunes. Check out their greatest hits CD to get a real feel for them, but they've got great beats and a good variety so you can mix up your workout.

Also, I find that some of 50 Cent's faster songs and pretty much anything from "The Documentary" by the Game get me pumped up on a run.

Disco Inferno works well as far as 50 goes. As much as I hate Nelly, Number One gets me pumped.
