New publisher at Lafayette (LA) Advertiser

    I guess it can't be any worse than Dan Itel uprooting from Oregon and then finding out three months later that it just wasn't working out.

    Rumor has it that the Advertiser didn't even pay for his return trip home. He had to dig into life savings just to get back to Oregon.
     
  2. I think some of this actually developed rather quickly. The move that set this all off is the removal of Fred Hamilton as publisher in Reno. People I know in Reno are saying that that the publisher and the controller were both escorted out of the building by security last week

    Gannett is starting to cut back on its management, too. A few months ago, the Port Huron, Mi., publisher also took over as the Battle Creek, Mi., publisher (two towns about 150 miles apart). I wonder if that same guy will take over Lansing, since he has to drive through Lansing to get to Battle Creek.

    And doesn't Lansing have an SE job still open?

    There's been a lot of that with Gannett lately. Having one person do management jobs at multiple sights.
    Cheap bastards.
