Their first record came out my last year of high school, and I became a huge fan. (I have a spot memory of driving with my then-girlfriend the first time I heard "Coax Me" from Twice Removed.) I probably saw them 15 times up until about 1998 or so. Then I went to a concert of theirs at Varsity Arena around then, and I felt like the oldest person in the place—I would have been 24 or so and felt 100. Decided I should probably stop going to Sloan shows. Then they put on a free show in Peterborough a week ago and I thought, Fuck it, I'm going. Everybody was my age or older, and they sounded great. I was so glad I went. Brought back a lot of great memories and even ran into a few old friends I hadn't seen in 25 years. Super fun.
