Whatever you say, Maestro. Or should I say: Bob Cobb.

I always love the commentaries, so a Q&A session is like Heaven to me.

    Kevin Smith Q&A by me

Q: When are you going to stop with these stupid fucking Q&As and make another movie?
Q: Is The Thing's dork really made of rock?
Q: Why can't you finish most of your projects? Where's Fletch Won? Where's The Green Hornet? Where's Ranger Danger? Are you ADHD?
Q: Why can't I see the goddamn sailboat?

Okay, I'll try to fill in for Kevin...

A: See "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," realease date Oct. 31. "Sold Out," actually filmed last July, was put on hold so Smith could make this pic with Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, in which platonic friends decide to make a movie to make money, slowly realizing they're more than just friends.
A: Dunno. But if you try to check, it'll be "clobbering time."
A: Smith's no longer attached to most of those projects because he couldn't get creative control, couldn't make the movie "his way." And life's too short to do it the studio way, and be unhappy about the result. As for ADHD... uh, wait... what?
A: Dunno. I can't see the damned thing either.

I read Silent Bob Speaks, but didn't pick up his second one.

I'll also watch the Q&A the second it comes out.

    My Q/A for Kevin:

The last serviceable movie you made was Chasing Amy. Your personal filmic canon has two funny movies in it, amongst some major turds, none of which hold up. Why do you even have an audience anymore?

  6. Because every statement you just made is false.
Chasing Amy is his best, but they are all funny, and Clerks 2 was pretty damn good.

I was very disappointed by Clerks 2.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is one of the most enjoyable films I've ever seen. I'm not saying it's the best of Smith's films, but it always cracks me up.

    It's not a sailboat. It's a schooner.

  9. Well, different strokes. Strike Back is my least favorite, with the possible exception of Jersey Girl, and Clerks 2 is my second favorite behind Chasing Amy.

  10. You bumped. Here's the set...

A schooner is a sailboat, stupid head.

I think a major part of why I like Smith's film is because he is continuously building on the same story -- well, at least until the end of Clerks 2. I think that's the final chapter.

I'm a huge, huge fan of Sandler, and he and Smith have at least one common theme in all their movies: They use parts of the same cast. I really dig that. I enjoy asking my friends to name all the Hicks characters. And I think it speaks a lot of their loyalties.
