    You're right Ben. A guy who lost his job in Baltimore for standing up to management and saying he wouldn't cut staff is now telling the Inq that he'd be happy to volunteer and be the butcher.

    You could not be more wrong here.

    Yup. Pulling kittens out of trees = more important than Iraq/Iran stuff.

    If this holds true for sports, man, I'd had to be the NBA writer, watch the 76ers miss the playoffs, and then have to cover some stupid bullshit that's not going to help me on the beat.

    Not sure what's wrong. What Ben says seems pretty much as reported.

    As to letter, this stuff happens all the time. My publisher had a thick file of letters from people wanting my job. He thought it was pretty funny and showed it to me once just before I was off to ASNE: "If you run across any of these people, tell them hello for me."
