Hi, I'm looking for an article which I believe was in SI ... I dunno, around 1999-2000??... about a 1980s- ish moderately successful LPGA golfer and her battle with alcoholism. I believe it was a first person account... It was fairly graphic. It may have been an excerpt from a book.

Anyway, I'm drawing a blank on the golfer. The letter 'A' pops into my mind... not sure if her last name begins with A ??

I've spent some time on Google and I keep getting Ben Wright articles.

Anybody remember this article and/or the golfer's name?

Does that SI cover count as cross-threaded irony?

  6. I remember reading the story. Very good.
