Looks like I'll be heading there come January. Two questions:

    1. Who else here is going on a BCS-related trip?

    2. Can anyone give me some New Orleans-related travel pointers?

  2. when they aks where you got yer shoes say, right here.

Buy these at home because they're fucking expensive -- comparatively -- in the city.

"I've got my feet on my feet, right here on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in the state of Louisiana."

    Or, "I'm not a tourist."

Seriously, though, I've spent a huge chunk of my life in N.O., both pre- and post-Katrina. PM me if you have specific questions ...

You want a fun place to drink, go to the Goldmine, just off Bourbon.
You want a good place to eat, Acme Oyster House or Jacques-Imo's.
You want a cool place to hang, Magazine Street.
You want a good place to see ladies take off their clothes, Visions.

It's wedged in there between Texas and Mississippi.

I'll gladly second the recommendation of the Acme Oyster House, but don't go there expecting the atmosphere of an upscale hotspot. It's a little rough around the edges.

Be careful in the Quarter. There's some shady people there.
