Need Help Deciding Whom To Hire

    And this board is anything but a "large segment" of the industry.

    Fewer than a dozen people responded. Most of those probably have no management experience. Some might not even be in the business.

    And since you trust no one and the decision is ultimately yours, I'd say you're extremely insecure about making a mistake. And it is only a college kid for a part-time position...It's not like you're hiring a columnist for a major metro.

    IGAG,

    Thanks for the honest input. My decision-making skills are fine. I just worry about hiring someone who hasn't learned the basics of writing for a newspaper. Then again, they can be taught fairly easy, so maybe I'm just overthinking things.

    You definitely could be right about the insecurity of making a wrong decision. I don't want to make the wrong hire and create more work for myself because I made a bad decision.
