Need advice on my college gig

    First, stop wasting time by reading this site.

    There are diminishing returns for working at college newspaper, after awhile all you're doing is getting the paper out and you can stop growing. You'd be better off developing newer skills and getting new experiences elsewhere, especially if you could get even a clerking job at a local daily. Or try working a semester for the magazine or whatever else is out there. Cut your hours down at the paper and get ready for the next stage of your career. Skills and depth of experience matter more to employers than whether you thought you were a hot shot at State U's sports page.

    As for the rest, it's called paying your dues, man. The vast majority of us did it, not that it makes it any easier.
