...and when they get out of the red, when it comes to the budget, but that's me talking.

It maybe too late, but if I'm Callahan, I would suck it up, walk into Tom's office and kiss his ring, apologize for not having him more involved, admit that "I thought I could do it by myself, and I realized that I'm a pro coach in a college program," and ditch the WCO. Anything but to have the King drag me to the electric chair.

Yeah, like that's going to happen.

The joke among Big 8 fans while grew up is that the "N" stands for "Nowledge" in Nebraska.

Gill is saying all the right things...
...but he's also making $180K (plus bonuses) at SUNY-Buffalo. Guessing the pay scale in Lincoln is a little more generous.

Remember how horseshit the program was BEFORE Osborne?

You're about to find out -- again.

Absolutely. Had Osborne on the brain.

Let's go back to Bill Jennings ('57-'61):

    1-9
    3-7
    4-6
    4-6
    3-6-1

Scored 13/0/0/0/0 in five straight losses to Mizzou, for heaven's sake.

I think they will get Gill, but compare the two schools, except for money.

Winter in Buffalo vs. Winter in Lincoln---Push; Equally shitty in both.

Fan Base in Buffalo vs. Fan Base in Lincoln---Nebraska, and it's not close.

Ability to win in Buffalo vs. Ability to win in Lincoln---Buffalo; With all the teams stacked in the North (Kansas, Colorado Kansas St., Missouri)....and we haven't even touched the surface as far as the South (OU,TEX,TT,).....Me thinks the N won't be contending for a few years after cleaning up Bills mess.

Pressure to win in Buffalo vs. Pressure to win in Lincoln---Why the hell do you think Bill is getting axed?---Buffalo.

    Now.......which would you rather do?

Make 180+ a year, and be perfectly happy or make 1.5 mil per year, walking around Lincoln with that constant pressure?

Turner Gill's head coaching record is 5-14.

Everyone would be all warm and fuzzy about welcoming home the hero from the good ole days -- until he lost two games in a row. Then it would all blow up in a big, big hurry.

Hire two good coordinators, which he'd never be able to do at Buffalo, and one really good recruiter and he's golden. He'll have a much, much better staff and more resources than he could ever dream of at Buffalo. I don't know if Nebraska will take the chance but he could get it done there.

    Once again, paging BYM.

I really haven't been paying enough attention, since I missed this.

Got a message yesterday, just before the presser, about Stevie P. returning to Oakland. Like I've said before, maybe he'll get people to wisen up and Pitt will build a new football stadium down in Panther Hollow, behind the law school and the library.

Cougs, I don't see that happening; he chose a new basketball arena ahead of a stadium the last time. Even if they do get an on-campus stadium, it'd probably be limited to 40,000 seats. If you ever want to play Penn State again, forget about having a home-field advantage.
