'DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!" he yelled as he gave each member of the officiating crew a $1,000 raise.

I'm pretty sure it was $2,000 for the referee and umpire.

For nine seconds those moronic refs let the Arizona State player lie on the ball. That is textbook delay of game by the defense and, as we all know, a game cannot end on a defensive penalty. No matter how you slice it, Wisconsin should've had the opportunity to attempt a game-winning field goal and it's a shame a darkhorse national title contender had that chance ripped away from them by poor officiating.

    Eh, it's just a make-up for Northwestern at Cal <snicker-snicker> /Pac-12 officials

Saturday was a bad day for all NCAA refs. The CUSA officials in the Virginia Tech-East Carolina game were awful; refs at Alabama-Texas A&M were laughably bad. Just bad officiating all the way around. Maybe the NCAA should look into it, but as long as schools are making money, we know the NCAA and its conferences don't really care if a pack of chimpanzees are out there throwing banana peels and spontaneously blowing whistles.

Thank you for restoring perspective and reminding us we're really not arguing over very much.

OK, last year was a bit of a fluke, but they've been to three straight Rose Bowls, and I already think this team is better than any of those three.

No matter how you slice it, they got screwed. I can't imagine you're all for that.

Oh, they got the scroogie, no doubt. But let's not get ridiculous with saying this has national championship implications.

Arizona State and Ohio State are the two toughest games on Wisconsin's schedule. If the Badgers could've gotten through those two unscathed, then, yeah, getting into the national title game was a real possibility.
And Tony's right, this team has a great defense, the best running back tandem in the country with the nation's most explosive runner, a solid offense line and is on par with Wisconsin's first two Rose Bowl teams. Let's keep in mind, that Wisconsin hasn't lost a game by multiple scores in four years. Each loss, including all six last year, were by seven points or less and three of those were in overtime.
So to call Wisconsin a national title contender wasn't exactly crazy.
