These SRs are fun if for no other reason than the closeness.
All the teams are still in the running today (Sunday) except where Stanford swept 2 and clinched the first CWS spot.
Good comp going on here, and Irvine, BTW, won its opener at Box Stadium against LSU Saturday.

And I'm aware of the staggered scheduling, but it makes for more interest than if everyone had done a Fri-Sat-Sun format.

And NC is in the CWS, too, thanks to a rout of Coastal Carolina today.

Can't wait for those Georgia and LSU games to unfold. It will be an interesting afternoon.

Oh BTW, longtime diamond coach Ron Polk is mad at his home school for making the "wrong hire" in replacing him.

    Oh well.

Touchdown, Georgia. Extra point and safety, too -- in the first.

I'll put the over/under on time of game at 4:03. Give me over.

    Annual OnTheRiver tradition:

Someone knocked Wichita State out of the tournament. Drinks are on me.

A grind-it-out drive too. Eight singles, two walks, a hit batter and a sac fly. According to the GameTracker, it's 99 degrees.

Will have to use the GameTracker from here on. Georgia did enough that ESPN has switched to the kitty cats and the aardvarks in my southeast 'ville.

Top of the ninth in Athens, Fields on to pitch for Georgia, up 17-6.

Top of the ninth in Baton Rouge, five runs in for LSU, up 9-7.

Make it 16-0 in home elimination games for Georgia.

LSU ties the series with Irvine.

Dear ESPN: Thank you for finally switching over to Rice-ATM.

    UPDATE: Rice 6, ATM 5

Big 12's out of the tournament. Next round of drinks are on me.

Rice did its part to eliminate the Big 12. Knocked out A&M and Texas.
