    Just to play devil's advocate:

That's the point of the huge basketball contract, to underwrite travel costs in the other championships. And given the guarantees teams must pay the NCAA to host regionals and Supers, and considering that about $300,000 people attend the CWS, I think the money is there for a more west coast-friendly seeding/regional pairing arrangement.

Then again, it might have been a simple typo by someone who is a very reputable journalist.

Another interesting college baseball note this week: All three assistants from Pat Casey's 2002 or 2003 staff (I forget which year) got D-I head-coaching jobs within the past two weeks: Dan Spencer at Texas Tech, Gary Henderson at Kentucky and Donnie Harrell at Seattle U.

UC-Irvine, up 6-2, just got out of a jam by pulling the hidden-ball trick. Although it looks like the runner got back ahead of the tag.

Wichita State better win tomorrow, that's all I've got to say.

Yeah, yeah, I know. But dammit, the Shockers are the last Kansas team left and I did cover some kids on that team during their high school careers. Would make a nice story.

That, and Florida State would go another year without a national championship. :D

So Steve Bartman moved to Tallahassee? Shockers follow with a two-run HR and trail 6-2 early. Bartman has been escorted out of the stadium.

Got to love adults who wear their football jerseys to games.

Jersey -- and a baseball glove.
I was pretty sure Man Law states gloves are not allowed to be worn by anyone over the age of 13...

Bartman wouldn't give his name with his statement? Will his friends rat him out like Bartman's did to the Sun-Times?
