Can't believe there hasn't been anything mentioned about this here today. NCAA finds no rules violations in UNC fake class scandal.

On-field evidence overwhelmingly suggests the football program didn't gain a competitive advantage so I can see letting them walk.

Basketball is a different story though.

 

NCAA has no interest in punishing name-brand programs unless the bad press is too overwhelming. You think Penn State gets hammered if their name wasn't constantly linked to "child molester" in 96-point type?

A couple weeks ago, somebody mentioned that this UNC scandal seemed to be getting very little play in the national media, particularly ESPN. It's difficult not to wonder if that played a role in the NCAA's decision.

 

I thought they were starting a hockey program and was wondering if a hockey team could survive using the name Tar Heels.

Does the track team call itself Tar Heels?
