UVA is hindered by the rule which prevents teams from playing tournament games on campus. Much to Thomas Jefferson's chagrin.

If anyone other than Lofton catches this inbounds pass, Pearl should be fired and whoever throws the pass should lose his scholarship.

Now, wait a second... Didn't they wave off that Virginia basket on the runner in the lane about a minute ago? The score is wrong on CBS, isn't it? I think it should be 75-72?

You have to wonder how this would have played out if J.R. Reynolds had been 100 percent in the second half.

Purdue up on Florida, thus far.
I haven't seen much of the Boilermakers this season. Do they have enough to hang in there with the Gators and keep it interesting?

  9. No, but they have the ability to be like every other Big Ten team (save Ohio State) and slow things down to a snail's pace.

Of course, I'm happy the Vols won.

But this was Exhibit A of why I will never catch March Madness fever.

When 90 percent of the points in the final five minutes are free throws, that's just torture to watch.

And, unfortunately, that's what happens when the team trailing needs to stop the clock and deseprately hope to exchange 2s for 3s (or 1s for 3s if the leading team misses a FT or two).

N.C. State perfected it in 1983, and the 3-point shot has made it even worse (because you can actually trail by one with 5 seconds left, give up 2 FTs and STILL tie the game at the buzzer . . . as Virginia almost did).

Xavier shits the bed and watches as Ohio State drills a 3 to send a game into OT.
Announcers today quote Pearl as saying you always foul with less than 10 seconds and a 3-point lead, which UT does with 6 seconds left.

Yet, somehow, UVa. STILL gets off a potential game-tying 3 at the buzzer.

UVA was doubling Lofton and he still caught the inbounds pass. That's pathetic.
Tough loss since Singletary finished so well. Reynolds looked fine in the second half ... not sure why the kept talking up the ankle. Did anyone see him gimply? Not as confident obviously, but just cause he went to the locker room early doesn't mean he was all busted. Tenn just locked him up.
