    Wow. That's a reach.
The biggest thing is the NCAA waited until its Golden Boy (Tebow) was gone before it came up with this rule about the eye black messages.

And I've advocated to friends that, not in college, but in the NFL, crazy stunt celebrations and taunts should be flagged and have the TD called back and that would stop it. That and for networks to stop showing the stupid spastic dances and staged acts some of these guys do, including Miles Austin's "first down" sign for the Cowboys. Immediate 15 yards. There's no opinion, no interpretation or bias, just if you do it, it's a flag.

Or, instead, someone like Ray Lewis from the other team could be allowed one free shot at the player doing it and that might also stop it. And I'd want the TV networks to show THAT.

Ray Lewis got a free shot already. Or something like it.

Or, with the eye-black rule, perhaps the NCAA is just trying to protect its control over its property.

Gotta keep the billboards clean so as not to distract from the more subtle, but paid-for, messages.

People are playing a game where they can and do seriously injure each other on a regular basis and "taunting" is a problem? As for the racial idea, I stand by it 1000 percent. For the record, I was at the game where the very first NCAA taunting penalty was given, to Terry Glenn at the Kickoff Classic in the Meadowlands. It was an obviously bullshit call (Glenn did a kind of backflip to get to his feet after making a catch, not aimed at any opponent) made because the refs knew they were supposed to make a taunting call to "set a tone."
It's a bullshit rule in general. Don't like being taunted? Don't let him score.

Excessive celebration and taunting is multiracial, and is getting ridiculously excessive. Good call

...and if you eat a hamburger bought for you by a booster while high-stepping into the end zone, the NCAA will immediately escort you to an on-site electric chair. Thanks for playing!

So players should be able to relentlessly taunt and do that pretouchdown crap?

Relentlessly, they aren't now. A 15-yard penalty after the kickoff is pretty significant when you consider the kickoff return and improved field position of the opposition.

    Is it an epidemic?

It's a rule that's going to bite someone unfairly, you can be sure of it. That's over-legislating. But we shouldn't be surprised.

I can't wait to see a touchdown scored in the final minute against Alabama or Florida that gives some underdog the lead get called back by those fabulous SEC referees.

I'll be stunned if this doesn't happen.
