NBC's "Awake"

I liked the show, and wished it hadn't been cancelled. I feel like the experience of Awake points out a flaw in the Network TV business model that seems rectifiable. Here you have a show that might not have the ratings to hold a network time slot, but it certainly had some critical respect and an audience of at least a couple million people that wanted to follow along with it. The networks, which all own cable outlets, should build renewal options in their show contracts that allow for varied levels of renewal. Such as, "OK, NBC isn't renewing Awake for its 10 p.m. timeslot at $X million budget, but it is renewing Awake at $half-x million budget and it will air on Bravo." So there's, for lack of better sports analogy, a relegation option that allows the show to continue.

Where ever it was, it wasn't in a real world where both the son and wife were alive. That was clearly some sort of psychotic break.
