Most of the Miami grads (with the notable exception of Shockey) do that. It's a reference to the U on Miami's helmet.

    And you're right ... it's stupid.

Actually it's Bryant Gumbel and Cris Collinsworth.
Not that that is much better, but it's a start.

The guy on NFL Network right now has been funny all day.

$10 says if you asked any given 10 NFL players where they matriculated, nine of them would look at you funny, and then tell you they don't matriculate in public.

    "U for Unatisfactory"

Other than the annoying know it all Bob Costas, I actually enjoy the sunday night games just as much this year as I did with ESPN last year.

Oh, I don't know. Considering what was there before -- as in, dead air -- I think having the chance to see ALL the preseason games wasn't too shabby at all. And it's HD, as well.

Like I said, it's getting better, but it still repeats an awful lot of programming that's mediocre to begin with.

That said, the preseason games were nice and I do like the idea of the abridged games they show during the week, though I haven't seen it yet. Now if they do that for ALL of the games, then we're getting somewhere.

I would take Eisen, Schefter and Collinsworth to be a foil. Leave Bryant out of the booth.

  10. Is there anyone more full of himself than Rich Eisen?
Right around 9/11, he was all over the place, sucking his thumb about doing sports during such world-historical times, and then he takes a job with...The NFL Network. Nice.

Pat Summerall would have been a better hire than Bryant Gumbel.

Marty Glickman, right now, is a better hire than Bryant Gumbel
