Bob Costas is the host, of course. And like the guy or not, he has great vocabulary and the gift to talk at will about anything.

But who do you all like?

For track and field knowledge, for example, Dwight Stones, gets a "thumbs up." He may be an insider and a little odd, but damn, he knows the sport.

Carol Lewis, though, doesn't add much, in my opinion. When given her chances, it all seems obligatory and she doesn't add much insight.

    Anyone got a favorite(s) or a not-so favorite(s)?

I'll tell you what I've cringed at over the years:

Gary Thorne calling Olympic rowing-he deserves better.
John Tesh or Summer Sanders calling anything.
Dan Hicks calling anything but golf.

    Did not cringe at:
Kathleen Sullivan and her lovely sweater puppies. Damn, she was/maybe is hot!

Who has the political oppression beat? No one? Figured as much.

I know he works for CBS, but can I request Gus Johnson?

    None of the above.

Their talent is negated by being part of NBC's runaway hype machine.

Carol Lewis adds more than her gold-medal sister ever would...

    In the javelin competition...

"rise and fire...ha HA!...Augustin Pinochet wins it for the Chileans!"
Beyond that, just send Brett Favre over there. That'll draw at least a thousand of our favorite reporters.

No, seriously...Bruce Hornsby and Sean Hannity. Toby Keith on water polo. Nancy Grace on the human interest pieces. Tom Hammond on Notre Dame football, since Qatar about the only team the Irish can beat these days.

Has anyone ever rode the coattails of a famous sibling longer and farther than Carol Lewis?

And Hammond happens to be very good on track and field.

No to the first query and I agree to the second.

I've always liked Jim Lampley and Al Trautwig's work.
  10. The guy sure has a cult following. Maybe it's because he makes the Raiders/Dolphine game sound like the friggen super bowl. FWIW, I like him too.

Which of these people will scare my wife and child when we see them in HD?

    Will it be Costas?

Gus Johnson was born for this.
