Not saying they haven't had a very, very good run. Just that it could have been an exceptional run. And it wouldn't have to end this year or next. I think we've seen the end of the Pistons as a title threat for the near future.

And if they had drafted Carmelo or DWade, it would be a different story.

I always find it laughable when teams say they're not drafting a guy who could prove legendary because they don't have anywhere to play him. I heard plenty of that from Detroit folks around the time of that draft (though more about Carmelo than Wade, admittedly).

    I see what you're saying.

P.S. If they really needed a big man, they should've just drafted Bosh.

1 title won because the other team self-imploded.

1 title lost because the coach was too busy trolling for other jobs to coach his own team.

2 other titles blown by accommodating a psychotic nutcase punk thug on the roster.

Whoop de doo, what a glorious era.

That's the amazing thing about that draft, in hindsight. You had a championship-level team with a gimme-putt to become a legendary team. And they missed ... and missed BIG.

1 title won because Detroit was the better team

1 title lost because Robert Horry made that shot(it's not like they got blown out.It went to 7 games)

2 other titles blown because of two great players(DWade, LeBron)

So Detroit would have won last year? And this year?

    No.

Ehh, they said Pistons in 4 too. Clevelands 2-0 against SA this year, they're playing BY FAR the best ball they've played all year. They can make it a series.

A valid point. Regardless, I think we'll eventually look back at that draft as one of the monumental fuckups in NBA history. If we're not already.
