Is the draft still going on? We switched over to the CFL on NBCSN ...

That was great TV with Rivers and Simmons. Just awesome.

How uncomfortable did Bilas and Rose look? Great stuff.

Simmons has been great, he's big enough at ESPN that he isn't afraid to do and say a few things that others won't.

    Breathless wire reporting:

Stern, booed heavily in his final draft, added to the surprise of the moment by pausing slightly before announcing the Cavs' pick, their first at No. 1 since taking All-Star Kyrie Irving in 2011.

Wow! Two whole years ago!

It's called going all in on the Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes. This may be the earliest ever that a franchise officially began tanking in pursuit of a draft pick.

2009 called, it wants its Simmons' take back (sorry, never done one of those "past year called" lines, finally saw my chance).

Slappy, your post is exactly what I used to think when I saw Simmons on TV, but I have to admit he's gotten considerably better in recent years. Adding him and Jalen to the NBA studio was a good move for ESPN.

I just don't think there are many coaches that are real difference makers. Phil Jackson. Gregg Popovich. That's about it in real recent times.

I wouldn't give up assets (players, draft picks, etc.) for anyone except those two.

Can someone explain to me why ESPN's analysts were gushing over the Nets and their trade with Boston?

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, future HOFers though they both will be, are closer to AARP then their primes. Same for Jason Terry. Pierce and Garnett will both be over 35. Terry is close.

They can help the Nets if they stay productive and healthy. In something just as likely, if I conjure a 13-large dong, I can begin my much-anticipated porn career. This isn't going to go as planned.

Meanwhile, Boston got THREE first-round picks! Methinks Red Auerbach is giving Danny Ainge a shoutout from the great beyond. In the long view, the Celtics fleeced the Nets.

Yeah the Nets made a really stupid deal.

From the players the Nets are reported to have traded besides the draft picks, it would seem Garnett and Pierce are going to play Fifth and a Half Man roles for them, since their depth, such as it was, is now gone. If they can handle that, and why would they agree to the trade if they couldn't, they can still be effective. Each was good this season when they didn't have to carry the load and pile up the minutes.

You sir are completely correct. Not surprised either that the Celtics are pulling this stunt.

The Celtics tried that strategy once before in the 1990s and it didn't work out for them at all. Ask Rick Pitino.
