Well geez, if the deejays across the state would greatly appreciate it, then by all means you should do whatever he wants you to do.

I also liked the little "beyond your capability" line at the end. Added a little bit of snarkiness when he's asking for a favor that's way out of bounds. You should tell him, "It's well within our capabilities, but I just don't give a flying fuck about doing your job for you."

I don't think he's necessarily lazy, but like others have said, it sounds like he's incredibly unaware of the world and probably not real intelligent, at least socially and professionally.

Both of these. A lot of my online time during games is spent retweeting scores of games involving team in our area, sometimes from writers at competing papers that follow me. They do the same with my tweets. Readers also contribute via Facebook as well. It's an audience participation sport.

Or... here's a thought. Maybe you could get your listeners to call, text or tweet the quarter scores in your part of the state directly to you? That way, the four schools in your 5,000 watt corner of the state can inform you so you know what's going on...
Tracked down the station he's from... all that is in me wants to call his boss... and in seeing his facebook page, he's not a 20-something first-job-out-of-college... gray hair and all...

Why don't you just give Buddy Garrity what he wants? Maybe he'll give you his daughter in return.

Actually, when I explained the first email to an editor at another paper we'll call the Bacon County Baconwrap (whose who know, will know), his response -- verbatim -- was "Did you tell him to lick your nuts?"

If you'd like to ID the radio guy and provide a little contact info, I'm thinking we can all send him some HS football scores this Friday. He wants scores? Let's give him a thousand scores from across the country.

    hmmmm, I like that...
I'll wait to see how he responds to this first...

I think I'm just going to suggest that if you're looking for scores in your area, you might want to be proactive enough to ask your listeners in the greater Pig's Knuckle area to email, text, tweet or call you with the scores from teams in your area.
That way, you'll have the tools to do your job instead of relying on our scattershot, incomplete website do it for you.

If he was a DJ, he would know to follow the right people (football parents, ADs, spouses of coaches, etc.) who probably do post the updates on Twitter and Facebook. But alas, he's only a deejay.

Your state still has live DJs on the radio?

In his email exchange, he does come off as a man of constant sorrow

I have not seen the word DJ spelled out in 2 decades. WTF?!

This guy needs a social media hammering of shame. Wow.

Being a part of radio since I was 16 (20 years now, when I started, I guess I was a "deejay") I can't believe the gall this guy has. I hope you inform his bosses of this shameless begging.

    His final response ...

I guess that's what I'll do. You did, however, hit upon the real problem. It's not local scores I'm having trouble getting. Our local fans are keenly
interested in the scores of out-of-area upcoming opponents, especially when playoffs begin. The outcomes of those games lets us determine exactly who those opponents will be, and knowing it as it happens allows us to be able to broadcast that information when the audience most interested in that infomation is still listening.
