Navy blue pants

I usually go with black shoes/belt with navy pants. I've heard that this is wrong. Brown shoes just totally don't seem right to me however.

Whatta ya say? I'm in my mid-20's if that matters.

With navy blue, I'd go with a nice cordovan over black or brown. [/Frank Ridgeway]

It's not wrong. Neither would brown or burgundy shoes be wrong. But navy suit and black shoes are standard interview attire.

Navy goes with almost anything. The key, though, would be matching the degree of formality on the trousers and shoes.

I wear brown shoes with blue pants. Not a problem.
As Frank mentions, brown shoes with a blue suit? That's a problem.

Now, I know what you're thinking. Do the shoes go with the pants? But hey, as long as the belt matches the shoes, anything you wear is okie dokie and I'm not just saying that.

Now I have to go over to Red Wigglers and see about some new ads...

As long as you're not looking like these guys, I think you'll be fine.

That is the most important point that Frank makes. Also depends on material of slacks. Cotton is more informal and matches better with brown. Wool Blue goes better with black.

Black shoes are more formal with Blue suit but brown is also fine if high quality shoe. Poor quality brown would stand out too much.

I hope black shoes are acceptable. I'm wearing them with my navy slacks.

Then again, all my shoes are black, including sneakers. At least I won't be able to claim that it looked different dressing in the dark in the morning ...

My daughter got me these shoes for Christmas. I wear them with my blue pants. LOVE them.
