    Description:
    CBS Television Stations Digital Media is looking for a talented producer to edit, publish, syndicate and coordinate compelling sports content across our network of local television Web sites and wireless initiatives. The National Producer – Sports also will be responsible for executing internal projects that may involve third-party content providers and vendors.

    Our national producers work directly with the digital media teams at our owned-and-operated stations to manage coverage. The National Producer – Sports will work directly with our local stations to build compelling content offerings that expand our reach online and on-air, with a particular emphasis on preps sports. This position also will lead our daily effort to engage audiences with the latest relevant sports news and information, presented in a variety of ways. The National Producer – Sports will be expected to generate ideas and execute interactive strategies that will build audience, increase time spent on the site, generate revenue and strengthen online interactivity.

    The National Producer – Sports will coordinate content with network partners and leverage relationships with third-party content providers. This producer will monitor each station's Web site, on-air programming and wireless efforts to spot compelling content of national interest. This position also will work directly with the station Web teams on writing strong copy and engaging headlines, and spotlighting strong video and photo elements.

    As a member of the national content team, the National Producer – Sports should have a broad awareness of all news categories, including national and international news, business, entertainment, health and politics. This position may be called on to support all categories. National producers also provide basic training and technical support for station Web staffs, facilitating communication with the Digital Media Group’s technical and sales teams, as needed.

    Our industry is fast-paced and frequently changing. This position requires a mindset conducive to that environment.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Exceptional skills in writing stories and headlines with demonstrated professional news judgment • Keen knowledge and interest in all aspects of sports, particularly high school and other non-professional sports • Well-versed grasp of AP Style, as well as print and broadcast newsroom standards • Ability to multitask while maintaining focus on a continuous deadline • Ability to implement initiatives that help build audience traffic and interaction with station sites • Thorough understanding of Web and wireless usability and user behaviors • Working knowledge of Web publishing technologies (HTML, image optimization, browser compatibility, etc.) • Working knowledge of PhotoShop • Exceptional organizations skills, high attention to detail and excellent communication • Independent initiative while fostering a positive team environment

    COMPETENCIES • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to actively participate in problem resolution, reacting positively and quickly to changing dynamics • Self-motivation and creativity to collaborate and work with a diverse team

    EDUCATION • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or closely related field

    PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE • Minimum 3 years professional experience working on a media Web site with strong preference given to those with television, newspaper, or sports service tenure

    This position is not a traditional M-F position. Evening and weekend work may be required as well as on-call duty for breaking news coverage. This position is based in our New York City office.
