Down goes Patel! Down goes Patel!

Apparently the favorite is gone--Samir Patel.

First of all, I didn't know there was a favorite. Does that mean they're betting on this. Good thing I didn't know, because I would had this cat parlayed all over the place. (Did I just type that out loud?)

And with controversy as well with an appeal and a rejection of said appeal.

Add to that the ESPN flava of Stuey providing the appeal updates and analysis from the M&M boys, and what do you have?

Well, I'm not sure really, but I'd probably misspell it.

What was worse for Samir? Getting knocked out early or having to endure an interview with DJ Stewy?

I read the story...why did the mom appeal Samir getting knocked out?

It says in the story (might have been updated since you first read it). She thinks the reader guy mispronounced it.

<nerd>I was in a county spelling bee in the eighth grade where there were three contestants left (including me) and all three of us missed a word in the round. But because I went first, the judge ruled that only the last two in the round could come back. I have never been more pissed about something in my life.</nerd>

Must have been updated since then because there was no reason given. Interesting. Thanks for the update.

I believe the real reason from the appeal would be described along these lines:

    Grasping at straws

Yeah, either that or "coddled mama's boy."

These bees are sooooooo culturally biased.

Reader guy is always an old white male.

Haven't followed a second of this, and it's annoying that ESPN has forced this thing on us. Would it be as big of a deal if PBS aired it? What you're doing is making these 11 year olds out to think they are not nerds, but stars; I imagine kids are no longer in it for anything but the TV time.

That noise you hear is the deterioration of America's youth.
