Alas, so many wars began amongst people with the same skin color.

    Tribalism is bad.

The coming together of people with common sense and good faith is good.

We probably don't really need more Dolezal, but there is a new documentary on her out on Netflix. I have not seen it yet, just heard the NPR story this afternoon, but it was interesting getting the film maker's perspective - that Dolezal can be incredibly annoying, that her kids come off as somewhat the hero of the piece.

Probably the most incisive comment I heard was to the effect that it was the ultimate expression of white privilege to be able to turn your back on living as white, with all the advantages that entails, and choose to live as a black person.

I read a somewhat similar piece that came from a different direction ... she had white privilege because she could literally choose to not be black anymore.

I started that documentary last night. After five minutes, I had to stop it. I could just feel myself starting to get pissed off.

That's not white privilege. Hell, O.J. Simpson did that in "Samurai Night Fever."

She's not doing much to remove the stereotype that all white women who are pretending to be black are welfare queens.
