Another one of those things you figured out when you were 5 or 6?

Texas may be ready to start the process on its own. The state GOP is actually about to put secession in its platform.

Of course, pulling 38 sure electoral votes out of the GOP column for the Republicans in the other 49 states. Which is why Priebus will squish this like a bug.

Didn't P.R. just vote in favor of it a couple years ago?

Yes, in 2012 ... but I'm pretty sure that's the first time that's happened. In several other (relatively) recent plebiscites, the majority's opted for the status quo.

No, it doesn't make sense for Wyoming and California to each have two U.S. senators. A Wyomingite's vote is essentially worth 65 times more than a Californian's.

Not only is this kind of thing a problem on the national level, but with the districts on the state level as well even though the districts are often redrawn. Some blue states have Republican-controlled legislatures simply because of the weight given to rural districts.

Speak for yourself. This Virginian would take WV over Maryland a billion times out of a billion.

West Virginia's statehood was a bold move. West Virginians got the federal government to recognize a rump unionist government to represent Virginia, which approved West Virginia's statehood bid.

That's why there are two houses of Congress. Look up The Great Compromise.

I imagine the Republic of Texas representatives at their first OPEC meeting acting like the Astros execs on Seinfeld.

    "How you bastards doing???!!!"

I mean, if that were the choice, sure, I guess. Rather have neither.

Translation: Let's get rid of red states so we can further the agenda of turning America into a socialist hell-hole in the image of Barack Hussein Obama.
