My offer on my first house just got accepted...

It better not be baby blue!

They gave me a breakdown of every payment and how much goes interest vs. capital. I don't start paying more on the house than on interest for 14 years. Goddammit. I knew that, but it's depressing to see. :D

But when you rent you never pay anything back to yourself.

And if you ever are ever able to do this, I pay an extra $300 every month on my mortgage, and I am taking 11 years off of a 30-year mortgage.

Yeah, I'm hoping to make AT LEAST one extra payment a year. Don't know if it will be $100 a month or pay one out of my tax refund or whatever. But it will be at least that much. That's supposed to take off seven years, I believe.

You are correct in that. Everyone told me to do that, but I couldn't afford it.

My final payment ended up being 118 bucks less a month than what I originally was told, so that helps.

We're trying for a minimum of 1 extra payment a year, maybe two with my part-time job.

RickStain, who makes 12 extra payments a year, scoffs at you. (Just kidding, Rick.)

You think Rick needed a mortgage? Pshaw. He saved up and paid cash.

And he only needed two years to do it too.

But he tried to pay half of it in walks saying they were just as good as dollars...

:) Glad to have Spock back.
