My computer thinks today is Dec. 16, 2007

Worse than that, it has no restore points prior to Dec. 16, 2007, which means I can't restore it to a previous time to try to fix the problem. Hell, I can't even restore it to any day in the next three months.

It's a Dell, and it's given me relatively little trouble until now.

    Am I screwed?

CAn you set the date as Sept 14 or 13 or 12 and take from there? How far back can you set it?

Found this by googling the internets...

It sounds like your PRAM battery may be going bad, since that is partly responsible for keeping the date and time while your computer is off.

You may be seeing the current date and time after the warning because your computer is set to retrieve its date and time from a remote server.

To check this, go to the Date & Time system preference pane and deactivate "Set date & time automatically" before shutting down. If the computer is still set to the wrong date after the warning appears next time, then you know that your PRAM battery is either dead or dying.

Can you check to see if the Colorado Rockies are still celebrating their World Series title?

On the other hand, you've segued from your football coach to basketball coach, unless the football coach has changed jobs, which means it sucks to be you right now -- or on December 16, whichever.
