    Description:
The Cherokee Scout, the N.C. Press Association's General Excellence winner for 2007, has a great opportunity for the right person. We're looking for a top-notch sports editor who loves to cover everything from high school football to little league baseball to the great outdoors of our scenic western North Carolina mountains. The best candidate will be able convey what's important from games accurately, concisely and fairly, as well as write compelling feature articles, take photos using Nikon equipment and paginate pages using InDesign on a Mac. A bachelor's degree or higher in journalism or a related field is welcomed, but prior writing experience and good work with a college newspaper or as an intern will be considered. We're moving into a new building, so this is a great time to come aboard. To apply, send your resume, three diverse writing samples, three references and a cover letter stating why you're the best person for the full-time position with benefits to David Brown, publisher, Cherokee Scout, P.O. Box 190, Murphy, NC 28906, or e-mail dbrown@cherokeescout.com. No phone calls please.

That is a beautiful area but it is real, real isolated.
