    Better than Dolan, I guess.

And better than that idiot Sam Zell.

And since Long Island is long numb to the lack of competition in the daily newspaper market, I don't think anyone will fuss if he turns it into the Post Lite.

Murdoch will own the Times before the decade is out. Book it.

  4. Another Murdoch property is a blight.
However, this is going to give conniptions to the folks out on LI.

Newsday can yap about Tribune's ownership left and right, but it was their criminal circulation-numbers cooking that brought down the company more than any single occurrence.

Non-TRB higher-ups fucked an awful lot of people.

I imagine we'll see some sort of coverage-sharing with the Post.

Can't see too much of an initial overlap in columnists - the tone of both publications is just so different - but wouldn't surprise me if there are eventual casualties among the beat folks. Total bummer.

One only hopes Ray Barone gets to keep his column. :)

Hey you shut up! Raymond Jansen said he had no idea what was going on!

    What a piece of shit.

do you mean the staff, or the readership?

Cause the readership is used to a crappy product (that's a knock on upper management that has no reason to try b/c it's got a monopoly, not the staff).

The paper will improve under Murdoch. Murdoch was the only potential buyer who wouldn't slash the newsroom budget.

  12. That doesn't mean the newspaper will improve.
It means he'll hire hacks and turn it into a rag like the Post.
It's happening already at the ESJ.
