Say what you will, he had a first-ballot mustache.

Lots of fun guys on that '77 team:

    Munson

    Jackson

    Cliff Johnson (Mr. Miserable SOB)

    Lou Piniella

    Dave Kingman

    Mickey Rivers

Someone said about Mickey Rivers (I'm pretty sure it was him): "He's turned his life around. He used to be miserable and depressed. Now he's depressed and miserable"

"This is a 70s porn. You know how I know? The guy's dick has sideburns."

Never heard that from him, but we didn't interact regularly.

Fens and I find rare common ground, and I experienced Munson's dick-dom first-hand during spring training one year.

Munson is one of those people are have become better human beings in death than life. Two others who spring to mind are Jim Valvano and Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Munson and the Intimidator shared the same mustache.

  11. Actually, hondo, you and I are three for three there.

I had heard the same thing about Valvano... Although I heard both he and Earnhardt mellowed in their later years...

Sean Taylor is the latest to go from thug to saint in death...
