The "Arabic sounding name" name turned out to be true. I'll wait for someone with some real information before I believe this was his (only) motive.

 

I'm just guessing, but I imagine the source -- maybe to protect his anonymity -- was willing to release the fact that the shooter had "an Arabic sounding name" but was not yet willing or authorized to release the actual name.

I don't see a problem with the report especially since -- unlike the early OKC reporting -- it turned out to be true.

 

It just sounds stupid and ill-informed to say he had an Arabic sounding name.

Either report the name or don't. If his name was Washington or Jefferson, would you say he had a "black sounding name?"

 

The young blonde reporter woke up this morning in BFE Texas and 15 hours later she is on the NBC Nightly News' lead going one-on-one with Brian Williams.

Hopefully it can go in her portfoilio.

50 percent of what we hear now is true and 50 percent will be off the mark bullshit.

In about 12 hours we will have 90% of the facts. It's just too hard to be patient for 12 hours.

 

Looks like he's a white guy who converted to Islam.

 

Our president has an Arabic-sounding name.

 

In that case they would have said "The shooter had a presidential sounding name".

 

There's no evidence that anything like this was involved in the shooter's motivation.
