Well, this will get ugly. Very ugly.

I hope it was gang-related or something and not ideological.

How sad that that's a logical thought. "I hope a mass shooting at an Army base was gang-related."

I'm not differing. Just saying it's weird to read it.

I admit, it felt weird when I first thought it. Hell, I was hoping the shooter's were named O'Leary or McTavish or Smith.

Fort Hood is just outside Killeen. How spooky is it that this is the second mass murder incident to take place there.

"The Luby's massacre was an incident of mass murder that took place on Oct. 16, 1991 in Killeen, Texas. George Hennard drove his pickup into a Luby’s Cafeteria and shot and killed 23 people, wounded another 20 and then committed suicide by shooting himself. It remained the deadliest shooting rampage in American history until the Virginia Tech massacre."

Is it preferable to kill 11 people and wound dozens of others for any reason?

    A freakin' major?

And I agree about Wolf, he's just not quick at processing or explaining things. Shepherd Smith might be the smoothest and best cable anchor on these days.

Saw Kay Bailey Hutchison complete the triple header with interviews on all three cable nets already.

As long as it's profitable for TV (and newspapers online) to do their initial reporting live on camera in front of millions, nobody will be covered in glory in these things. Simply can't be done.

Shep Smith has been excellent throughout this...

I wonder how long he's been serving and how many tours downrange he's done.

Actually, the Austin American-Stateman Twitter site I referenced earlier is covering itself in glory with the way it's handling things. But I agree about TV -- at least with Twitter you get a second to breathe to prevent yourself from saying something stupid for the sake of saying something.

That's my thought, too. This isn't just some low-level nutjob, the rank of Major is way up there. He's probably been with the military for awhile.
