We have been given the green light to add a full-time position in our converged Gazette/KCRG Sports Department. If you have any questions, feel free to email me (nick.pugliese@sourcemedia.net).
We are doing some interesting things for a small-market organization, including broadcasting live sports events, a live, weekly hour-long sports talk show, webcasts/podcasts and a strong commitment to community engagement through traditional media as well as social media.

    Job description is below:

    Multimedia Sports Reporter

SourceMedia Group, Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking an experienced multimedia reporter for our converged sports department. Our reporting staff fuels The Gazette (second-largest paper in Iowa) and KCRG-TV9 (the top broadcast station in Eastern Iowa) as well as our websites. This position is responsible for covering sports at the University of Iowa, local high schools and other athletic events in Eastern Iowa. Responsibilities include writing news stories, features and game stories, blogging and posting online content, shooting photographs and video and occasionally preparing television reports and packages. There will be opportunities for play-by-play, color analysis and sideline reporting on our live broadcasts. You must be able to perform independently as well as part of a team.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or related course of study, and 1 to 5 years of experience; or in the absence of a Bachelor’s degree, at least 5+years’ related experience. Experience in broadcasting and social media would be helpful. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving habits as this position requires travel.

Interested candidates, please send your cover letter, resume, samples of your work (hard copy or links) and salary requirements to:
